From Climats to Appellations

Winemakers' wines, respectful of the living world, which are the expression of their respective terroirs.

The work we do in the vineyard enables us to release the intrinsic qualities of the grapes in the vinification process, and to respect the characteristics of the appellation and the vintage when making our wines.

Cuvée Vieilles Vignes

The historic and emblematic wine of Domaine Ponsot – the grapes come from old vines located 2/3 in the original “Clos de la Roche” climat and 1/3 at the foot of the hillside in the “Clos des Monts-Luisants”. Grand Cru Clos de la Roche combines power and elegance. Complex and perfectly balanced, it is a great wine for laying down, structured, with extremely silky tannins.

This Gevrey-Chambertin Grand Cru is surprisingly elegant and long on the palate. Perfectly balanced vines of around forty years old produce a wine of great class, with a delicate nose and fine tannins. The whole is very harmonious, with a long, mineral finish.

Cuvée des Alouettes

Located in the heart of the “Clos des Monts-Luisants”, the vines are separated from the Clos de la Roche by just one metre! It shares many characteristics with its illustrious neighbour, boasting great aromatic complexity and a structured, well-balanced palate. The finish, with its slightly firmer tannins and refreshing acidity, is the main difference to the Grand Cru.

Clos des Monts-Luisants Monopole

Domaine Ponsot’s historic second wine, first bottled on the estate in the early 1920s, is unique in Burgundy on several counts. A rare white Premier Cru from the Côte de Nuit, more than 2/3 of which comes from very old vines planted in 1911, it is also the only one produced with the Aligoté grape variety.

Cuvée des Grives

The atypical position of the vines at the top of the “Monts-Luisants” hillside, bordered by the forest, gives Morey Saint Denis “Cuvée des Grives” a great deal of freshness and tension. Sustained and structured, it strikes just the right balance between full body, fruit expression, velvety texture and minerality.

Cuvée de l'Abeille

Gevrey-Chambertin “Cuvée de l’Abeille” comes from vines replanted in 2014 in the locality known as “Les Epointures”, and already displays all the characteristics of its appellation: a ruby colour with purple highlights, an intense nose of cherry, blackberry, violet and rose, and a full, structured palate with velvety tannins.

Cuvée du Pinson

Since 2017, this wine has often been one of Domaine Ponsot’s smallest cuvées in volume. There is a reason for this: it is produced with young vines from our Morey Saint Denis or Gevrey-Chambertin appellations that reclassify into the lower Bourgogne appellation.
